About Me
Hi, I'm Sophie.
I'm a Registered Dietitian (Maryland) and Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach helping people make the switch to a plant-based diet.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Communication from the University of Delaware and a Master’s degree in Dietetics from Eastern Michigan University. I’ve worked in hospitals, long-term care, rehabilitation, and wellness technology. Most recently, I've served as the director of the nation's largest diabetes prevention program. Through my experience, it was clear to me that the healthcare system in our country is not working to prevent disease.
I started Plant-Based Perspective to provide easy-to-implement strategies that show people the power (and flavor!) that a plant-based diet can have. Put simply, by eating a plant-based diet, you can reduce your risk for chronic disease. If you’ve recently received a scary diagnosis like type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, heart disease, or high cholesterol, it is not too late. You may be able to turn your health around so that a longer, brighter, and more independent future is possible. Even without a diagnosis of chronic disease, a plant-based diet can be life-changing. Some of the commonly seen benefits are weight loss/maintenance, lowered cholesterol, reduced A1c, improved blood biomarkers, increased energy, elevated moods, reduced cancer risk, and improved digestion.
When I'm not working with clients, I enjoy spending time with my infant son, two dogs, two cats, and less-furry husband. I love to cook, hate to do dishes, and enjoy spending time being active outside (especially on warm and sunny days).
